How to turn off smoke alarm
Turning off a smoke alarm should be done carefully. It is an important safety device that warns you about fires. If the alarm goes off without smoke, it may be due to steam, cooking fumes, or a low battery. You can silence it temporarily. Most modern smoke alarms have a “hush” or “silence” button on the front. Pressing this button will pause the alarm for a few minutes while the area clears.
If the alarm is hardwired, you may need to press and hold the button or reset it at the switchboard. Never remove the battery or disconnect the alarm unless you are replacing it. Always put it back as soon as you can. If the beeping is from a low battery, replace it quickly. If you have repeated false alarms or a broken unit, have a licensed electrician check or replace it. Smoke alarms are essential for early fire detection and should always work well
